Denis Darkin

Photographer and toolmaker. 20+ years capturing landscapes across Australia and Russia's Far East, while building AI-powered tools for managing and understanding photo archives.

This site collects work from the wild Tasmanian coast and the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, to the pristine taiga-fringed shores of the Lazovsky Nature Reserve in Primorsky Krai.

The archive stretches back to the mid-2000s and continues to grow. Some images are from single decisive moments; others are stitched panoramas assembled from dozens of frames and printed at wall scale. The entire archive — 56,000+ images — is indexed, searchable, and auto-tagged using tools I built as a software engineer.
